This is a 2-frame macromosaic taken using the Canon 100mm macro lens and Canon 40D camera. It shows structural colour and structural blackness in the Papilio ulysses butterfly wing. The image was fractally sharpened using Noel Carboni's DSLR Fractal Sharpen tool - and this struggled to run the 100Mb TIFF file on my computer and only just managed it when I closed down every other open application - I think this must be near the limit of file size my system can fractal sharpen. Anyway, here it is:
Fractal sharpening seems to me to give superior results over "smart sharpen" for things in the natural world (doesn't seem to work too well on astro-images though).
