Noel Carboni has just put together all the data we have taken of this region over the years to create this wide field panorama. The blue reflection nebula is M78 and it is surrounded by masses of dark nebulosity. The red emission nebula off to the left is a very small part of the very faint Barnard's Loop. All this can be found in the constellation Orion.

I take pictures so quickly, my highschool was "Continuous High".

M78 looks like an entry to another universe. If we could space-travel in an instant we could see many "color wonders", I guess.

Do you know how many photos are included in this picture since you were writing photos from the past years were being used for the resulting picture.

Edit: Have you ever taken "a" picture of the constellation Lepus (The Hare) with M79 included?

Hi HTG,

This is around 10 hours total exposure time with two different telescopes.

I haven't imaged M79, I think it might be too far south for me to get (??)

I can't get any of the good stuff in Scorpio as it is below the tree line on my southern horizon.
