I was wondering how this lens would work in say taking shots of the moon/stars?

I can't comment on the image quality, but at that focal length on typical sensor size the moon's surface would fill about half or a bit less than the short edge of the frame.

Stars will appear as little pricks of light with pretty much any lens without getting into astronomical prices. (bad pun intended) You could have a go at deep sky objects if you get a tracking mount to allow longer exposures.

Hi silverphoenix,

May I offer you a warm welcome to the CameraLabs forum.

At that price don't expect miracles. But the Adorama review/sales leaflet seems positive enough.

And Adorama have been around for a while. Indeed they are one of our affiliate stores so if you want to help support the CameraLabs site at no extra cost to yourself you can always do so by starting your purchase through this Adorama link. And no, I'm not on commission.

Bob.

.
There's a very brief review of this lens over at PopPhoto. Click on the picture of the lens in the article to see a few test shots.
