it was actually 01.31.09.....thanks for pointing that out. i also appreciate the advice. i am a novice, having just come off of a casio ex-s10, and having always used the automatic or "best shot" settings on that camera. i hope to improve via these forums, and am (barely) beginning to understand the relationships between the different manual settings. thanks again.

That being the case I think this shot is an ok shot. The moon is a bit small in this shot. Also the location of the moon in th frame is a bit off centered. I would say either move it to the center or move it to a side more. (rule of thirds) The quality is really nice here. The moon is always something I like taking shots of.
