Camera Labs

Hello all,

I've been enjoying reading through this forum, and I finally went out and purchased a Canon Rebel XSi. I've only had it for a few days, and this is one of my favorite pictures so far. There was a police helicopter circling near by so I set up the tripod and opened the shutter for 30 seconds. I'm new at using a DSLR camera so please let me know what you think. Thanks!

May I offer you a warm welcome to the CameraLabs forums.

Having recently had the same issue I'm trying to work out if the horizon needs levelling. The posts say "No" and the roofs say "Yes". It's something you can do with most picture editing software but it's your call. Do you think that adjusting the contrast and brightness (or playing with "levels") could help darken the sky a bit?

That said, I like the shot. How many people would have seen that shot in their mind's eye when they saw the helicopter? Good work.

I think I'll try leveling the horizon, and will play with the "levels" to adjust the sky. Thanks for the suggestions!

Agreed! Great shot! Simple adjustments will make this shot a perfect 10 out of 10!

A great capture to say the least. Never knew it would give such a cool looking effect in the sky, the circling helicopter! As said, it can be improved with some quick post processing.
