Post subject: Road Night Light trails
PostPosted: Fri Aug 22, 2008 9:45 pm
Today I had my first go at taking some light trails late at night using slow shutter speeds. I went down to a duel near where I live and set my tripod on a bridge over the road. It was a bit tricky getting the camera shutter to fire off and capture the cars going by at the right time with out a remote shutter release so I made do with a 2sec timer. It would also have been easier if there were more cars going past on both sides of the road.

Here are 2 of my fav's

OH-ho ho ho Toby...you scored on these two shots...my favorite one is number 2...I like all the brightness in the fast lane, on the right, and am intrigued by that little golden glow..what is that...towards the center of the photo...makes it beautiful, in my opinion...not just another night streaming lights shot...this is good good good!! I like the way the lights are staggered, not too much not overwhelming...draws your eye...
These night shots are so cool...if these are your first ones, I can hardly wait for the next series!!

thanks for the comments, yeah this was my first ever attempt at light trails, they turned out well :D

Patti, the golden glow in the centre of the second photo is from big lights at the sides of the road further up.

excellent toby, like them a lot!

I need to have a go at this, what shutter speed did you use? 30secs?

some of them were 30 secs, some a bit less. I just experimented with a range.

great shot toby!

i like number 2 the most, number one is a great capture but i feel as if there's too much sky in it...

again, kudos for taking these pics- i for one don't wanna step out into an overpass with my camera at night...
