Here are some pics i took today.. im in the mountains and my parents have a house here right next to a lake.. so me and my dad took his fishing boat out for a spin because he just bought a brand new engine for it and its a beauty.. so i took some shots of jet skiers flying around the lake.. these things go FAST...

I like both of them but number 1 has got to be my favorite because that thing is airborne and this is just awesome.. this is my first time doing action photography.. i just switched into shutter priority with 1/125 shutter speed to get motion blur and aperture went to about f/10 and i put AF-C on and i just used single shot.. i can shoot pretty fast on my own!!

Way to go Emp! If I were you I would see if the folks who run the lake might like to use these on next years brochure!! They capture more then then motion stopped, they capture the fun of the day...wonderful.

man i love jet skis, i think id be too scared to take my camera on a boat tho, did you use a housing? lol

nope.. i brought a plastic ziplock bag along with me in my camera bag just in case we sank or something but that didnt happen.. i got a few drops of water on it from water kicking up over the sides but no big deal really.. and plus i got some awesome shots out of it!

The first image is indeed the better one as it is better composed. The second image is too tightly framed. Both are technically well taken. Even though you managed well, burst fire might be wiser in the future - it will take more space on your card, but it increases the chance of getting a good action shot.
