Hello All,

These are some pictures I took for college newspaper.

Great event, feat. Absentstar, T-Pain and Third Eye Blind.

Camera Canon 40d, lens 28-135mm IS USM
ISO 1600, focal length varied.
TV mode locked at 100 on most of the pics.
RAW
post processing - reduce noise and unsharp mask
Flash unfired except 1-2 pics.

There are several photographers working in the scene
one of them have 3 camera, 1 40d, 1 xti and 1 mark2/3 with
tele L lens, wide L lens and medium standard lens.. Wow.. that gears
must be heavy (all of the camera mounted with Flash (speedlite type).

Overall I'm pretty satisfied with pics I took,
Please let me know what you think.

Concert shots are pretty tricky, but you've grabbed some great shots there - I particularly like the one of the girls screaming - were they posing or were they really that oblivious to you?!

Intrésting shots man! I m going to shoot my freinds band playing at a this bar next week, so this is more then just pointers towards me! its going to be hard for me becuase i only get 18 55, and the SB 600...but i will give it a try! and these work for me to understand whats going on

Thanks Gordon,

they don't pose for me. I am standing between the stage and the audience, when I turn back I saw they are screaming. Thanks for quick
focus, I was able to take the pic.

glad that it helps. Play around, experiment with wide shot, tele shot, vertical and horizontal.

Really like all the shots.

I love the lighting effect you get from the different coloured stage lights, give a really magical look and feel to the photos.

I really want to start photographing bands live but I'm still trying to get into that scene, although I'm not trying to hard to get in since I have exams soon, but I'll be making enquiaries - although your story on how you get into these events etc would be most helpful.

join the school publication and then ask for press pass from the organizer.
you'll get in free and able to get close to the stage that way :)
