Just a shot from the freestyle moto cross exhibition at st kilda festival (Melbourne, Australia) on the 10th of feb. I'll post more soon but I'm waiting for my new laptop to arrive then I will edit the rest Enjoy.

What settings did you use and is it a crop?

I don't think it is a crop because of the dark corner from the lens.

setting:shutter priority
exposure: 1/1250
aperture: f5.3
iso: 100
focal length: 105mm

came across a few difficulties. 1) freezing the picture at 1/1250 under exposed a little. 2) At 105mm and only 50m away tracking the action was fairly difficult. 3) I was shooting continuous 6 shots at a time as anticipating the action was hard but shooting in bursts made it slightly easier.

oh and its not a crop, that is the full image. This was one of the lucky ones where I tracked the action at the right time. .

try shooting moto cross at night with artifical lights, i feel ya, it takes preciseness

Hmm.... just wonder if i can do that with my Suzuki V-Strom ? :)

Auto focus? nah I was manual focusing the whole time. It was hard to focus correctly coz I didn't have any guide as its a shot of the sky, but I focused on the top of the ramp and moved up to the jump path.

shot in shutter priority.
