There are hundreds of miles of dry-stone walling, which add real character to the vistas. It's a real old & backbreaking skill.
The walls on the pic are actually mortar bedded for strength, as it's an old bridge over the canal.

Interesting comment from Pier, there's been heaps of discussion on what to edit on a photo. A recent photo prize winner had his winning entry disqualified after it was found out it had a plastic bag cloned out. The winner lost the first prize but it would have been ok to crop it out. This will be a never ending debate.

The sign is a warning for vehicles of a `double bend` ahead, in the narrow lane.

The shot is actually a `pano` (16+ MB)
I tried a couple of options with this.....Cropping the edge off with the sign.......single image ... but decided I liked the old stone & horse & trap Vs the modern road surface & sign.
I live in a fairly rural area with some beautiful scenery, but if it aint road signs, it's telephone & power lines ruining every shot. I guess most of us can't have it all.

4xxxx, I think it was a harsh decision on the `winner`! I mean if you shoot digital you're unlikely NOT to use ANY enhancement, especially something quite minor like cloning out a a plastic bag, but as they say, rules is rules!

4xxxx, that's, in my opinion, a pretty ridiculous thing to do, I mean editing the bag out wasn't really transcendental to the shot. In my personal opinion, I don't think he deserved disqualification. Oh well
oldCarlos, unfortunately, people are slowly ruining natural landscapes with things like the ones you mentioned (cables, signs, etc). Oh humanity. Still looks like a nice place though
