I'm going to Barbon Manor hill climb track tomorrow, I was wondering if any of you had any tips for getting some good shots. I was thinking of pairing my 40D with my 70-200mm and try some panning shots.

In general for motorsports photography, I've found that the best spot is at the end of a straight, where the cars are heading straight for you until they slow down and veer off around a corner (if that explanation makes sense). It gives you a few options as far as shots go and is typically where the action/heroics/crashes occur. The cars are typically going slower in the corners which might make panning shots easier.

I had a go at some panning shots and these were the best i got, they are not perfect but i think i know where i went wrong. I made the common mistake of too slower shutter speed. C+C welcome.
