Here are some pics that I took at the slopes this past weekend. I was able to get a few tips from a ski photographer before going out, but I think I still need to tweak some settings. I didn't know what to expect being the first pics that I've taken outdoors with my new dslr. My camera stayed nice and dry though in my camelback. Last pic is of me, obviously I wasn't taking this shot, hence the grain.

That's nice! Did you use a polarizer?

Good first try.

I live in snow country, here are a few tips.

Take a shot of a clean patch of snow that is well illuminated and used that for your custom white balance.

Set your exposure compensation to + 1/2 to 1 f stop

This will take the blue cast off the shots and will lessen the shadows, also if do not already know, after shooting in cold weather make sure you allow at least an hour for your equipment to acclimate after you re-enter the warm indoors before you take it out of the bag, this will prevent fogging and moisture from forming fungus inside.
