Right time, right place and right lens, but slightly wrong weather.... I witnessed a mountain rescue yesterday when out hiking. I do not think the injury was serious, as they were walking around a lot. I think a paraglider bumped into a walker when trying to take off, though I could not see as it happened behind a ledge..

I used my 100-400 lens, from about 500 - 650 metres away. The winch shots were probaby getting close to, if not more than, 1 kilometre away. A lot of haze and poor light, so not always clear shots, but still great considering….

The pics start with a medic and 2 Police getting dropped off, a hovering helicopter moving on to the injured person and medic being winched away, then the 2 Police getting back on.

Just a few below, follow the link for more (still have loads to process). I have processed them a little, but will do so seriously when I get home next week. http://www.dpinparis.com/Mountain-Rescue/index.html

Wow, the last picture made my heart race, looks like he could drop any second, i am sure hes safely harnessed but my god hes got some way to go before he lands. I think that the photos are very good considering that you said the weather was not all that. Nice one anyway DP-PARIS

He is winched up to the helicopter. If you follow the link you can see the whole lot....well, the ones I have uploaded already.

Regarding the quality, definitely not amazing, but I think I will be able to work on them once I return from vacation...

Thanks for the feedback.

I would for sure hope that the guy is safely attached to the winch. If he wasn't then he is for sure the man for hanging on like that.

But the pictures look good for something you didn't plan for. So you cant beat yourself up to much. I thought they looked pretty good. Considering the distance and weather
