Very varied weather made life difficult, as did the softness of my 55-250mm at max zoom (nothing to do with me being an amateur of course, LOL!)

Great shots! 1,3 and the penultimate ones are my favourite.
Cheers!

Thanks, the penultimate is a bit special for me. Its a DeHavilland Venom (in case you didn't know) and was one of the types my grandfather worked on.

Nice shots indeed you have a bit of motion blur in the rotors of the apache helicopter, and with the two arrows crossing, and that in my opinion shows speed.
Love the venom mind you i use to restore classic military aircraft.

I like 8 I think that was it, the one with the planes split with the different color smoke. Also the heli is cool, and obviously number 1.

Did you shoot Aperture mode? If so what numbers were you having success with.

If not, around what shutters were you having the most luck with?
Are these cropped a bit? Or are most of these at 250mm?

I'm shooting a airshow next weekend and I'm pumped, but not to many people on here have giving any advice or tips yet. It seems around no faster than 250 on stuff with propellers. You don't want to freeze them completely, which you did nicely.

thanks

For focusing, what did you use?
dynamic field + continuous?

To be honest, the conditions were so varied with dark cloud and patches of clear blue sky that I used P mode most of the time I think, with Continuous auto focus. Good luck with your shoot!

Liked the shots also, as a newbie I don't have a problem of using P mode, if I mess around the image I want is gone.

Cheers

just a report back, I did the airshow and had a few problems, and some decent success. I will post some pictures when possible. I'm not claiming to have anything better than your collection though.

But for the record, I ended up shooting in Shutter priority. I varied from 250-320, to 800-1600, mostly. I slowed it down a bit on the Propeller planes.

Very nice shots mate! Next month will happen an Airshow here in my city and I'll post some pics.

I hope they bring some Mirage 2000 this year and the P-47 that Brazil used on WWII in Italy.

Do you have some shots of the Eurofighter on the ground?

Arghhh, I DID have shots of the Eurofighter on the ground, but I re-formatted my PC a month or so ago and I stupidly forgot to back up the airshow folder to my media drive.

Thanks for your comments guys, much appreciated.
