Just after a bit of advice on this type of shot. I set the shutter speed to one thousand of a second and bumped the iso to around 400 to 800, now will the continuous shoot mode still utilise the same shutter speed or not??

I basically want to freeze the action and preserve everything in sharp detail.

Yes mate, its a fishing rod. Its basically just a get together for casting fanatics to see who can cast a 125gm, 150gm or heavier lead weight the furthest.

The fishing line went disappear on the air except the heavy lead!

i can't speak to Nikon tech, whether the camera preserves user input across a continuous exposure or adjusts on the fly...

BUT

you could easily go all the way to 1/2000s with lighting like you have in that shot -- the next time you go out, i'd even try higher than that if you have more sun

alternatively, you could drop your iso to 200-400 and probably be very happy

lastly, you could try bracketing (which adjusts exposure compensation and/or whitebalance, not the TV/AV/ISO) for additional variation in getting the lighting right while you get the details right - you'd lose (i believe, though not 100% on Nikon) the ability to shoot continuously, or it would be dampened at best (on Canon i think it drops to 1/3 the speed? or 2/3?)

i mention the last option strictly because the photo in the original post could be considered overexposed
