Can anyone help me with shooting indoor basketball games. I'm new to this site and this has always plegged my pictures. Low lights (F's) and ap settings.

Also looking at a Canon D40.

A previous thread Here talks about lenses that help solve the light problems. Post the equipment you are currently using and more of the advanced/expert members can give you more guidance.

Also, do a search for "basketball" on the forums and you will see several other threads related to sports photography and lighting and action issues.

I also use 40D and it is fine.

The settings will be more about light condition on basketball area you're shooting at.

But my usual shooting setting is as follows:
The stadium is pretty bright.

* Manual setting (M)
* Aperture f/2.5 ISO 800, shutter speed 1/500
or Aperture f/2.8, ISO 1200, shutter speed 1/500
* AI servo (predictive focus)
* AWB around 4000-4400 (or white fluorescent setting)
* RAW mode.
* High speed continuous shoot

I also wrote other details on by blog about this.
