I have a Tamron AF75-300mm F/4-5.6 LD Macro(1:3.9) lense and would like to know if this lense is suitable for the EOS 400D camera? I original used this lense on a EOS 300 analogue camera and since sold it but kept the Tamron lense. I was told by Canon Australia that it would fit the 300D. So if that's so will it fit 400D?.

I have since read that these lenses are not suitable for the new range of digital cameras, is this correct?

If I intend buying the 400D is this lense worth keeping for the 400D or sell it and get a new lense with anti-dust system?

the 300D has a EFS/EF mount, so if the tamron fits on the 300D it should fit on the new 400D as well :D

"This extended-range zoom offers true telephoto capability ideal for a variety of applications including sports and wildlife shooting. The lens also features the capability to provide beautifully blurred background to high light the main subject in portraiture, or"compression effects" that make the most of the telephoto lens."

the lenses work both on film cameras and digital cameras as long as they fit :P if the tamron has a canon mount (EF) then there shouldn't be no worry! :D

Hi Cloneme, remember the effective field will be reduced by 1.6 times on the 400D, so it'll effectively deliver a range equivalent to 120-480mm on a 35mm body.

It's a nice telephoto range to complement a general purpose zoom anyway, and if you fancy a step-up from the kit 18-55mm, check out our 400D lens group test at ... s_upgrade/

Let us know how you get on with your 400D too!
