Hey guys,

Its been a while since I've posted - being a teacher really takes a slice out of the old hobby, but I have managed to maintain my side business as well as maintain a good handle at teaching.

So Im thinking of ordering the 600ex-rt and getting another in December to eventually replace my 2 Yongnuo flash units, my 430exII and my now dead and buried 580EX.

But I have a whole heap of Radio triggers, from Aputure, and a couple of pocket wizards Im hoping to expand on... Will the 600ex-rt allow me to use Third party Triggers until I can afford a few more flash units? Cant seem to find the answer out there on the internet - its being lost in the noise of the articles that remind us its the first Radio trigger flash unit.

Leo

I cannot seem to find the article now, but I do recall there was once person who combined three different flash triggering systems on the same camera without any issue.

If you have the more basic pocketwizards, such as the pocketwizard plus series, then you can trigger them through the PC port on the side of the camera and not just the hot shoe flash. This would allow you to use the hot shoe for the 600EX. This should allow you to use both systems at once.

However, while I have pocketwizards, I do not have a 600EX flash system to test if they work together for you.

Let us know how well it works.

Thanks for the response - Im pretty confident that any kind of flash remote trigger will work, but I wanted to be sure.

I ordered the 600ex-rt anyway and if it doesn't work, I'll let you all know, and just use the flash on optical master and my 430exii on slave. If it works with my collection of triggers, I will show you all the results!
