Does Canon make a full frame camera that fully supports STM lenses? I understand they would have to have the hybrid CMOS sensor to take full advantage of STM lenses. As far as I know, there's only three bodies that support STM: Rebel T4i (mine), T5i, and 70D; all are crop sensor bodies. It's rumored that the 7D Mark II will support STM lenses, but it's crop sensor. And I think there's only three STM lenses, two of which are EF-S mounts. If any of my assumptions are wrong, please correct me.

So, does anybody know if there's a future for STM lenses that includes a full frame camera? Will there be a 6D Mark II or 5D Mark IV that supports STM lenses?

Until Canon brings the CMOS sensor to a FF camera, the STM is not being fully utilized.

Well - STM is just another kind of motor for lenses so the lenses work with any EOS camera body. Just the other way the sensor focusing system works with any lens on the camera, STM lenses just focus smoother.

This kind of sensor isn't too old yet and I think they will release a full frame camera with that technology someday - but when? I don't know. Might be next year, might be in two years. But I think they will have to release one just in order to keep their cameras "up to date".
