Not much action on this thread...
Too bad 'cause I'm really interested in this camera and would have loved to ask questions to current oweners.
The thing is I'm hesitating between it and the FZ200, and can't decide if the price premium of the Panasonic really worth it .
So I'll continue searching for answers...

Well - the Canon has a pretty impressive zoom range but unless you have some Canon specific accessories like a flash I'd rather go for the FZ200. The battery lives longer and while the ISO performance is a tad worse the fixed 2.8 aperture is just impressive and keeps the ISO low - AND it's easier to get blurry backgrounds if you want them. Finally it has a rubber grip, which feels better than the SX50's grip.

Yeah, and I'm a Canon user. I had the SX 10 IS, which I really loved for the possibility of using AA batteries. The SX50 HS doesn't take them anymore, which is too bad.

I have the SX40IS, SX1IS and the S5IS and the SX50HS would make a great addition to my collection. The reason I bought this camera is it's long zoom range and RAW feature, otherwise it has the same features like it's predecessor the SX40IS which is an awesome bridge camera in itself. I was waiting for the new Fujifilm 42x but can't wait for it plus it's going to be more expensive.

In a talented amateur's hands the SX50 can produce some wonderful images. I came across this gallery on SmugMug. These shots are as good as any professional with a D-SLR could produce:
