How can I remove the outer lens ring? The ring (which has the silver stripe on it and has "image stabilizer" printed on it) got dented when I drop the camera. The lens barrel now won't extend when I turn on the camera because a tiny bit of the ring lip overlaps the lens barrel. I'd like to remove the ring and grind the dent overlap off. Also, if I can't grind it out, can I buy a new ring? I am not camera savvy, so please dumb it down for me... Thanks for reading.

Well personally I'd recommend to send the camera back to Canon to see if they can fix it, I don't think you could easily remove the ring yourself, if it's even removable without screwing up the camera.
