I haven't used the SX50 HS but I can say the T3i can offer vastly superior image quality, even with the less expensive lenses.
They have vaguely similar form factors but the T3i has a much larger sensor and with larger pixels, it can capture more detail and less "noise".
The SX50 HS would generally be purchased by those who are looking for a wide focal range but don't want to break the bank for it. In comparison, the T3i offers better low light performance and better image quality. However to achieve the same focal range as the SX50 HS would probably require a second mortgage on your house.
I'm not trying to say you wasted your money on the SX50 HS but if you don't need its zoom, you won't be making the most out of the camera as its zoom is arguably its party piece and one of the key reasons one would buy it.
