Rather optimistically leaving the 7D alone hasn't made it work again. So getting around to look for repairs. Anyone got out of warranty repair experiences around here?

Tried calling Canon UK. Welcome to phone menus and funny accents. Doesn't inspire confidence.

Have e-mailed one of the authorised service centres instead and see how that goes...

PoPo.
Are you registered on Canon UK site?
If you are sign into "YouConnect" and send an email from there.
I usually get a response within 24 Hours that way.
If you are not registered it maybe worth it as you can register all of your Canon products there.

BTW. What happened to your 7D? did I miss another post somewhere about it.

It just didn't want to turn on one day without warning.

Have sent it to Canon RCC now. Will see what happens.

Just got an estimate on the cost by e-mail of £78, which is not final and may vary. No way to pay online, I have to phone them which I'll have to do at work tomorrow... they don't say what the problem might be.

Camera just got back. I don't have any accessories with me to test it though.

The note says they repaired the DC-DC PCB, cleaned it, and also did a firmware update at my request. All done for £78 with return delivery (plus a bit more when I sent it out), taking about 10 working days from when they got it.
