So I am now back home after several weeks of travelling to the UK and Namibia. I did some street photography in London (viewtopic.php?f=15&t=30543) before heading off to Namibia. While in London I noticed that I had suddenly become a lot more attractive. Members of both sexes were clearly checking me out.... or was it the 5DIII?

This was my first trip back to London since getting the camera. At home (Hong Kong) people may glance at you but in London I noticed several people were literally walking past and turning their heads back to get a good look. I have to admit she is beautiful and it certainly made me smile. As I say I left the UK before buying a camera so this was my first time back their with my kit. Was really just wondering if this is common in the UK/London? Are people there clued up on cameras?

Well, I've seen that one of the things that gets people's attention are the white "L" lenses from Canon. Every time I've seen somebody with one of these "L" lenses, everybody is crowding around them just staring at the camera.... it's funny to watch people do that :P

Definitely the 5D III
I hope your camera strap has a wire cable going through it if you are walking around London.
It's pickpocket capital of europe.
I saw a TV program not so long ago where gangs of eastern europeans were planning their vacations to London just to pickpocket.

Actually you're right dalem, I've had friends that when they were going to the Olympic Games in London, they were advised to keep a close watch on their stuff because it wasn't really that safe. Also because it was a major tourist destiny (obviously because of the Olympic Games), pickpocketers (does the term exist?) were more common than usual.

I'm just back from a 12 month backpacker trip.

I picked up the cheapest SLR I could find (2nd hand 450D) halfway through the trip and all of a sudden loads more people wanted to be my Facebook friend

I suppose it's a nice bit of gear by backpacker standards.
