Yes, I have one! It is not a new camera, of course, just freshly minus its mirror. I was practicing panning, in continuous mode, when the viewfinder went dark. Upon my removing the lens, the mirror fell from the camera. These things happen, and it is a known problem with original 5D cameras. I am not sure whether the mirror shattered inslde the camera, or upon striking the pavement. Canon should be able to make it work again.

Of course, I am not without cameras, just without digital full-frame for a while. Life is still good. :)

Is that normal for a camera to happen? Or is it just a 5D exclusive problem? Because I don't want to buy a DSLR and have it go mirrorless that way :/
By the way, if the camera has no warranty anymore, does Canon charge you to fix that problem?

Thanks in advance :)

This is a known weakness of the original 5D mirror. If I recall correctly, the adhesive used in the earlier production was not up to the task.

Every account I have read indicates Canon repairs this problem without assessing a fee, though I am not the original owner, so that might make a difference.

Well it's good that Canon doesn't charge for that, it's annoying to have a problem with your camera, or anything you buy, because of a problem with the manufacturing. But anyways, I hope that your camera can be fixed :)
By the way, it's good to know that mirrors don't have those issues in other cameras

Sorry to hear that. I still fantasize the jump to full frame. As cool as fullframe sounds, I know that it's my technique that holds me back. Good luck on the repairs!
