I have currently got a 7D with 3 lenses (Zeiss 50mm 1.4, Canon 100mm 2.8 L macro and 17-40 f4 L)

and I am looking for a nice standard lens, I would love the 35mm 1.4 L but its out of my price range. I am not a pro photographer so this is just a hobby for me.
anyway because I have a Zeiss 50mm 1.4 I love the way it renders detail (although it can be tricky to get a focus on a subject if they are moving), so I am considering getting either the Zeiss 35mm f2 and the new Canon 28mm 2.8 IS. Next week I am in the US for 6 weeks and the Canon is only $799 when here it is £749! but I like the idea of having IS if I want to use it for video (which I would). I want to use the lens for street photography and as a standard walk around.

would there be much difference between 2.8 and f2?

any advice would be helpful

Have you considered Sigma 30mm f1.4? Cheap, nice build, as good as L lens if you get a sharp copy.
It only works on crop body, but you have 7d! Research it.
