Hello Everyone,

I'm looking at buying a Canon 60D and I'm trying to decide which lens (lenses) to get along with it. I am interested primarily in taking photographs of works of art so I need a lens that won't warp the image and that will function well under low light conditions. Zoom is not so important to me.

I've seem to be getting conflicting advice including the following:

Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 Lens for Canon SLR Cameras
a macro lens, probably 80-200 zoom or higher
S55-120

But it seems logical that I should look for a lens that works well with portrait photos and low light conditions as discussed on this website like the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM.

My price range is modest around $300.
I'm a beginner so all advice is welcome. Many thanks!

first of all, what art are you going to shoot, big paintings, or small cellphones? maybe you want tilt shift lens (but in that price category, maybe not)

i think you should stay away from wide angle, because it can change straight lines into curves, so maybe 100mm macro would be nice.

Check out the Canon EF 50mm f2.5 Macro Lens it gets good reviews for copy work as it has very low distortion properties
