Today I noticed a hair visible through the viewfinder of my 550D but it isn't showing up on images.

How do I get rid of it?

If it looks more or less focus, then most likely it is around the focus screen which is located above the mirror. So take the lens off and look in that area and see if you can see anything. If so, try to blow it out using a blower. Own breath is more risky as you may deposit spit droplets.
