Hai, I am back ! asking for ur opinions

I am really asking for ur help to decide my next lens selection

1) Brand new Canon EF 70-200 f 2.8( non IS)
2) An used canon EF 70-200 f 2.8 IS( mark 1)
3 Brand new sigma APO 70-200 f 2.8 Os HSM

All the above will roughly cost me the same
First option will give me no trouble other than slow shutter speed issues( as it brand new from canon no need to worried about the product)
Second 1 will be a great product, but because of an used, dont know the future and what will happen...
Third 1 is really nice, but dont know how its perform and here in India ,sigma service is really a problem, also the resale value( if i have to sell it in the fure)

What will u do, if u r in my position and why?

I suppose I'll ask the obligatory questions first: what will you be shooting with the lens? How critical is IS/OS? How important is weather sealing?

Some thoughts:
1) I believe the Canon 70-200 lenses only have weather sealing on the IS variants.
2) Whenever you're buying a used lens, make sure you have an opportunity to try out the lens before you purchase.
3) If I were deciding between those lenses, I would choose the used Canon 70-200 IS (assuming I checked it out and everything was in working order). But your decision may be different depending on your answers to the initial questions.

Yep, you need to consider both the stabilizer and weather sealing. The only lens that gives you weather sealing is the Canon 70-200/2.8 IS. Canon won't give you only weather sealing - it's both or nothing basically. If only stabilizer is important, the Sigma could be the way to go.

I bought the Canon 70-200/2.8 IS version 1 used this summer and I absolutely love it. I considered the Sigma, but the weather sealing is really great to have, and the Canon is built like a brick outhouse (insert reference to Kai W at DRTV here ).

I just looked it up again to make sure, the only Canon 70-200 lens that doesn't have sealing is the f/4 non-IS. All the other 4 do including the two mentioned.

I, too, thought that the 70-200mm 2.8 without IS has no weather sealing.
Googling for it I found that Wikipedia page that says the same thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EF_7 ... 200mm_lens
So I'll still believe Canon 70-200 + IS = weather sealing / no IS = no weather sealing. The IS alone can't make such a difference in price.

So if I had to choose between those lenses I'd go for the used 70-200mm 2.8 L IS USM. The 70-200mm non-IS will be used in a short time as well so personally it doesn't matter to me if I buy used or new. I'd only go for a new lens if the used prices are not much lower.
Weather sealing + IS is pretty nice. The Sigma is OK but if it costs the same as the Canon version I'd stay with Canon.
I thought of the Tamron version which is much cheaper and sharper than the (old) Canon version just having a worse focussing motor.

I also agree with Jiko that if the Sigma is the same price as the Canon, then the Canon is a better choice.

My source was the Canon Book, where it only gives a yes/no indicator on sealing. It doesn't say what the sealing is!

my 24-70' is really a great lens and only problem i used to have is at night shot, forced to increase the ISO to avoid camera shake. felt that IS would have help me in that stage

70-200, looking for this for tight portrait ( IS important)and some distant actions and all around lens when i need more than 70mm in my 40D

Trade my Canon 580 II for funding the lens
