Hello,

Does anyone know if is possible to monitor the SX40 HS on the laptop screen or another external monitor?

Beside the AV Cable AVC-DC400ST, do I need anything else?

Thank you for your time.

The AV cable will only give you a PAL/NTSC signal, which is 512x400 pixels (or something close to it). Needles to say, that's not a lot.

There's a big chance you can do it with the some software and a usb cable, you need to search for "SX40HS tether". In fact, Canons Digital Photo Professional might be able to do it.

Yes, I know there is a wireless and tether solution but only for the snapshot, after the picture was taken. So far I am unaware of any hardware/software allowing the user to use an external monitor and see on it the very same thing you see on the camera display/viewfinder.

There are some HDMI to AV cables and/or adapters but I don't know if that would work
