I have a Canon EOS 500 film camera bought in 1995. It is in pristine condition, complete with manual and spare film! It has a 28 - 80mm canon lens (0.38m/1.3ft) and a canon zoom lens EF 75 - 300mm (1:4-5.6 II).
I have the following questions:
1. If I was to buy a new canon digital SLR camera, are the lenses interchangeable?
2. Are the lenses that are new today of a superior quality to a 1995 made lens?
3. Is it worth trying to sell the camera and/or the lenses? Would anyone buy them? What would they be worth roughly?
Thanks,
Emma

Welcome aboard.

1) Kind of. All of today's Canon DSLRs are compatible with EF mount lenses but only the crop-frame sensor bodies (****D, ***D, **D and 7D) support the EF-S lenses.

2) Generally yes, both in terms of optics and speed but you'll have to open your wallet for it.

3) There are still plenty of photographers who either appreciate film or passionately despise digital photography so there is definitely a market for your gear. The 75-300mm lens will probably bring in the most money though I don't imagine you'll get much more than $250 US for the lot though if the lenses are in pristine condition with boxes and manuals like the body, they could fetch a little more.
