Post subject: Canon's new C300 HD cam
PostPosted: Fri Nov 04, 2011 3:03 am
I was so looking FWD to a HD cam released by Canon that would allow us to use all the EOS EF mount lenses. But designed for the hobbyist and not the professional. The recently announced C300 and the C300-PL both go for 20k USD. OUCH!!! Why couldn't Canon put out something like Sony's one and only HD consumer cam with mounts for using Sony's and Carl Zeiss' lenses? Priced within reach of most consumers?? Damn!!

Now I'm just going to have to buy a HD cam without interchangeable lens ability. Or wait for the 5D Mark III.

Sorry, I know this is the Canon forum, but you do have another choice: Panasonic GH2 (and/or AF100) with m4/3 to EF adapter. Yes, EF lenses will be manual only, but I read somewhere that that will also be the case on the C300.

Thanks Mark. But the Panasonic AF100 is 5k CAD. Though 1/4 the cost of the Canon C300 @ 20k USD. But still. I was hoping for something priced at the 2k mark and allowing us to use EOS glass. Perhaps next year Canon will release another interchangeable EOS lens model that serious amateurs can afford.

For now I'll have to wait for the 5D Mark III or buy one of Canon's fixed lens HD cams. :P
