Congrats you Canonites: This looks like a worthy successor!
Any ideas why it will take them till March next year to produce? The flood??

Good work Canon, ethernet is a great addition that should have been in cameras years ago.

One thought: if they're going the 7D route of LCD overlay viewfinder, does that mean no more changeable focus screens? Or can they do both at the same time?

Yeah, I see what you mean. It's just that we get so used to getting ripped off here in the UK that I was actually pleasantly surprised that the price wasn't £6,800 given the U.S. price of $6,800.

I shan't be getting one though: total overkill for my skill level even if I could afford it. Bit do covet that new sensor!!

Bob.

Don't worry Popo, they have nothing to do with each other, different parts ;)
You can change the focus screen on the 7D just as easy as any other DSLR. I have even done it myself.

The one in the 7D isn't intentionally user changeable like the 1D, 5D or 50D though. There you just flip a clip and the holder opens. Looking in the 7D, is it held in place by two screws and another mounted piece? A lot more fiddly.

I'd love to get my hands on the 1D X to take it out for a spin ^^

hopefully CPS has something like that where I can test it for 3 days for free, they did that with the 1D Mark IV ^^

Correct, it might not be as easy as the others, but two screws isn't what I would call fiddly. The hard part is and will be regardless of camera, changing the focus screen itself without getting dust in. The rest is smooth surfing.

Canon did a good job here.. I can't get over 51,200 ISO... Wow... I want to see some images from that high of an ISO!

Hey Thomas, you didn't delete my mention of a 5D3 in the Nikon thread so how could we possibly take offence. 8)

Thanks, Bob: That reminds me...

The mention of a competing product like the N*kon in a Canon-thread should be considered heresy and punished with immediate erasure

Oops, off topic again!

So what does the Canon 1DX really bring to the table innovation-wise (apart from that new sensor)?

Ethernet, Movie mode with a raw-ish format are the first ones that comes to mind.
