Camera Labs

Hi folks,

With apologies to those of you who already knew about it, I have just come across William Castleman's Photography Equipment Reviews site. Almost without exception the reviews are of Canon kit and some of the resolution graphs are done with film which neatly sidesteps the lack of resolution of some digital sensors. Might be worth Bookmarking?

Excellent site!

I'm surprised he's a veterinarian

I loved the conclusions on the EF 50mm f/1.8II. Although it is a plastic carcass his results were excellent. I have my doubts with this lens because of the plastic construction, but it seems that's not a problem.

As for The-Digital-Picture, I agree, and I used to use it a lot. I think it's a good complement to the PhotoZone site as the latter has good lab measurements and the former spends more time on usability.

Unfortunately there are a few useful review sites out there which actively block any references to CameraLabs so I won't trespass on Gordon's hospitality by advertising them here (I've PM'ed them to you). There are also a number of "review" sites out there which are nothing more than collections of user reports which can, in my opinion, be too subjective to use as a reliable source. The other sites I refer to occasionally are KammaGamma, The Luminous Landscape and Photodo and, of course, the new (to me) Photography Equipment Reviews.

Do you have any other sites (preferably those which don't block CameraLabs) that you value for the equipment reviews?
