@jitteringjr

what about sigma 70-200 f/2.8 os ? ;)

well for me already have telephoto focal length lens (70-200 and 100).
really looking at wider and low-light lens below 70mm to finish my kit. (1 or 2 lens)

either 50mm f/1.2L(love the BQ and Bokeh) or sigma 50 f/1.4 (love the price and Bokeh)(if i go for sigma i can have some left to afford one more either 15-85 (love the mm) or 17-40 or sigma or tamron 17-55). :?
but that it not sooner than next year at fastest.

i really love the fixed 50mm focal length.

@KSK

I haven't eliminated the Sigma OS but I can get the Canon 2.8 non IS through Canon direct refurbished for $1160 where as the Sigma is a little more at $1400. Plus there is that whole rechipped thing with the 7D and 70-200 HSM I and as long as I would keep that lens, it is one thing I don't want to worry about. So the Sigma for me has those things going against it.

How has your experience with yours been? Do you use it for sporting events in AI servo? How is the AF hit rate? Speed? How about indoors in lower light?

Photozone was going to review it for Nikon mount but are on the 4th copy trying to get a good one to review, so isn't promissing either.

Today I said goodbye to the 70-300DO and 300/2.8. Next week I should say hello to the 70-300L and some spare cash, which I've already spent. Via a cameralabs affiliate link of course!

I just never use it. I knew it was big and heavy when I got it, but combined with the fixed focal length it just doesn't suit my walkabout style. The amount of times I use it isn't worth keeping it around for. The 200-400 extender is still a long term contender, because even though it will be as big and heavy it will at least have zoom!

I've got my eye on an EF 24-70 f2.8 for my new Canon 7D. With two weddings and a vacation coming up, I have to fight the temptation to buy it right away.

@jitteringjr
sorry for late replay i should yesterday but fell asleep and forget about it. :oops:

Please note: i am sigma fanboys and my camera are crop frame dlsr. :)

If about my experience it all good. (i am luck enought before i bought it i mangiest to test the used 70-200 is usm and one my friend 70-200 f/2.8 non is). i used about 3-4 month,now

compare to canon is(mark I) sigma beat the sharpest at f/2.8 especially wide-open and slight shaper to my friend 70-200 non is. (not really sure about it have is and my friend have non is). :? (u talk to guy who use f/2.8 more then any F/-stop) ;). oh and last week one of my friend take my lens to use to take macro shoot like flower and dragonfly and the result quite good. :shock:

about the low-light profoment it quit good (fast/accurate/silent). but i might hung some time and might miss force,too. let face all lens might happen even canon. (i used it in faction show and family even like birthday -etc-).

For sporting events in AI servo: i do use it for football, boxing but i use more in bird shoot. well i not really sure about the AF hit rate i am never really count it + i am not really good in AI servo, but i quite get good amount of keep result with it,too. :)

all in all i really love it as it performance quite well but not at the level of the 70-200 IS II (but it a $2000+ lens), not really sure about the F/4 IS never use it. :? on the top of that when i bought it i get quite good price about $80-$90 cheaper then new canon F/2.8 non is and f/4 is both of them cost around $1230-$1250 (before japan tsunami :( ).

For the review i read lens tips, dpreview, amazone -ect-. not the Photozone as they don't have any review about this lens before i bought it. :) i really sorry about the long post and off topic. i will try put my review about this lens in this week also, when i have more pic in my flicker. :)

Have u try it at shop, yet? :?:
