Post subject: Canon EOS 400D Price
PostPosted: Sat Dec 22, 2007 2:10 pm
Hi, does anybody know if there are any new Canon models coming out that may bring the price of the 400D down. I know it might have some money knocked off in the january sales but and there is the cashback offer but that ends before january. Im getting confused now :?
Cheers,
Ross

Hi Ross,

A warm welcome to the CameraLabs forums.

It is widely expected that Canon will have something interesting to say at a press conference on January 24th. No guarantees as to what, though. Keep an eye out on the forum: if there's anything to report before then then I am sure one of our members will post. 8)

Bob.

Hi Ross,

While the consensus and common sense has it that the old models are discounted as their replacements come on stream the price history graphs aren't quite so clear cut. Take, for example the UK price history of the 350D/Rebel XT (prices in £):

Image
    350D/Rebel XT
--- Maximum
--- Median
--- Minimum

and look carefully at the above prices in late '06 as the 400D/Rebel XTi was introduced:

Image
    400D/Rebel XTi

The images are on the NexTag sites here for the 350D and here for the 400D so "thanks" to them. If they cease to display correctly then check out the links. If you do decide to buy then I hope you will check the UK prices using the CameraLabs PriceGrabber link to help support the site. Even better, check out our affiliate stores prices. 8)

To my eyes the median 350D price dropped by less than £50 so if you don't want to wait for the "450D" (which is only a rumour) then maybe that cashback offer on the 400D should be grabbed while it's still running?

Bob.

Hello

I just picked up the canon rebel xti (400d) for $299 (body).
I have been looking everywhere for the best price. I used the PriceGrabber link from this site 8) , and found another site called Expecam.
I picked up a kit worth about $1000-1200 for only $569    (package #8 )
with the money I saved I can get the 17-85 IS lens and still have some left over :!: :!: :!:
I just thought I would put in a plug for cameralabs.
Thanks all
