While the consensus and common sense has it that the old models are discounted as their replacements come on stream the price history graphs aren't quite so clear cut. Take, for example the UK price history of the 350D/Rebel XT (prices in £):
and look carefully at the above prices in late '06 as the 400D/Rebel XTi was introduced:

To my eyes the median 350D price dropped by less than £50 so if you don't want to wait for the "450D" (which is only
a rumour) then maybe that cashback offer on the 400D should be grabbed while it's still running?
