I am getting ready to buy a new camera

I am considering several cameras. The Rebel XTI (400D) is one of those. I have a few very important questions to those of you that already own one.

I see Rebel does not have shake reduction (built into the camera). Has anyone had trouble with this in dimly lit or moving pictures?

Do you like the display on the back, and does it use too much power? I understand the LCD menu is gone from previous cameras and the LCD displays the info.

Hi Bob,

1: If you're worried about anti-shake, get yourself a lens with IS.

2: Having all the info on the main screen lets the camera tell you lots of things, but some people find it harder to read in direct sunlight - and others, like me, find it off-putting when taking astro-photos at night. But then another advantage is that you don't need to peer over the top of the camera to see a top screen when it's on a tripod! Swings and roundabouts...

Response: I have had trouble in low lighting and motion photos, using the kit lense without any IS, and no tripod. Canon has the image stabalization feature in many of its lenses, and it works pretty well. My 28-135 MM USM IS takes great photos.

Response: I like the LCD and have no problems with it. I have it set to turn off after one minute of non-use, and it doesnt seem to cause any battery life issues.
