Hey Roy, are any of them estimating stock dates?
Amazon USA is showing 20th Sept, but they've been known to quote pessimistic dates in the past and bring them forward. Apparently Japan's getting it on the 31st August...
I think you've hit the nail on the head. Until stock arrives we probably won't know the actual prices.
To take my own example, I pre-ordered by telephone with Park Cameras and specifically raised the issue of their web-site price of £899. I explained my expectation that the UK price should be under £800 and received no argument or sharp intake of breath. They also agreed that there would be no problem refunding my £25 deposit should the price be higher. The RGB-tech price I referred to in an earlier post (£780) would seem to confirm my view.
I imagine Japan will be the first country to see the 40D as, if memory serves, that is the one major market where Canon is outsold by Nikon.
P.S. Just to emphasise the UK pricing uncertainty, Park Cameras still show the Canon RRP of £899.99 on their 40D page
but the title line of the frame reads "Canon EOS 40D (£25.00 Deposit - Competitive Price £TBC)". So know we know.
