Hello everyone,

I am in the market for a fairly inexpensive macro lens. I came upon the Sigma 50 f/2.8 at B&H for $280 or so, and thought it looked pretty good.

Any users out there that could tell me some more about this lens? And maybe some sample shots?

Cheers!

I'm thinking about buying this lens as well but information seems a little thin on the ground from actual users but there are a few reviews - try 'googleing' it and you will see what I mean. :D

Very decent performance on a Canon body, see review here.

I'd also be interested in seeing the review. Interested if this can be used also as a decent 50mm portrait lens..

wibble1: http://www.cameralabs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14322 might interest you, it was shot with a 50D and the Sigma 50mm f/2.8 Macro.

Sorry EricD, I havent used it (its not mine) long enough to say anything much intelligent about it, and I haven't tried macro photography with it yet too =x
