Hi folks,

Word on the Net is that Noktor has been bought by SLR Magic. Not a company that had raised its head above my personal horizon so I did a bit of digging and it turns out that their main presence is an ebay store-front. A bit more digging turned up a remarkably uninformative website at http://www.slrmagic.com/index.html (I'm always suspicious of companies that don't include their company address on their websites) but a DNS lookup (here) at least revealed the address of the site owner. "Flat B" no less.

Ho hum, that's the nature of the brave new virtual world I guess. But the good news is that despite a rather New Age approach to its company's web presence it appears that SLR Magic is going to revitalise Noktor with a full-frame 50mm F0.95 rescue and a 28mm F2.8 E-mount lens for Sony's NEX system which will be announced next month (source). Very commendable so good luck to all concerned. 8)

Bob.

slrmagic are known to me through their lens releases on mirrorless systems. Essentially mount changed C-mount lenses on the relative cheap, so nothing really special there. Then again, that's all that Noktor were too (albeit with better marketing), so it is a decent match.

I wouldn't expect any miracles...
