I don't know. I think they haven't release that info yet. Maybe around 1-2 months. For price, I predict it will be around $1300

Hi Chris,

the Sigma section is the correct place. So I'll move this thread there.
My sources don't reveal anything about price or delivery date.

I read the release date today after I had heard about it.
It's a really interesting lens, probably a great alternative to us who can't afford or don't feel like spending a fortune on it. Hope the price will be competitive.
I have sent a mail to see when it will be released in Sweden, and hope for answer soon.

Daniel

Ok, so back to this thread again.
I was looking at pics of the lens and I just wonder about these numbers below the focus distance marks.
Are they aperture values? What do they tell us?

The markings are for depth of field, but they are calculated for full frame cameras, at 200mm so you won't get much use out of it on an APS-C cam...

Well let's keep the discussion up here then!

For the brief info about the lens I still refer to my other topic about this lens found in this sigma section, but as we now all know, conversation is to be kept at this original post! Sorry for stealing the show by creating a new topic, should have gone with the existing.

I want to give a share of my latest info on the release, can still not give exact dates, but my local dealer tells me thet its most likely to turn up this summer, hopefully already in june as Janern reported, so let's keep our fingers crossed!!!

Sigma has now updated their homepage with the news lenses

There is no pricing on the 70-200mm yet, but they have pricing for the two 50-500mm's:

50-500mm F4-6.3 EX DG HSM: $1450
50-500mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM: $2400

Do you think we can read anything outta this? Will the 70-200mm OS be that much more expensive compared to the non-OS 70-200mm?

Anyway, as they have pricing on the 50-500mm, I guess the price on the 70-200mm OS will come soon

Wow, and then the new OS 50-500 is not even EX anymore, I wonder why it lost that "tag" :?:

There were questions if the old version deserved EX designation or not. At the end of the day it doesn't matter a huge amount, except perhaps in supporting roles. For example, Sigma UK offer extended warranties for free on EX lenses.

It's rumoured that sigma reserved their EX line for constant aperture lenses.
