I have just ordered the above lens. I hope to get plenty of use out of it on my Nikon D300 when I visit Rome in a couple of weeks.

I already have a circular polariser on my LX3 which I love to use so I am naturally pondering on getting one for my new lens. I am looking at the Hoya filter which seems to be in my price bracket.

Was just wondering if this filter would introduce any vignetting?

Also are there any other 77mm polarisers out there which would perform well but wouldn't break my almost shattered bank?

I know buying too cheaply is a false economy for things such as this but just thought I would ask if anybody has any experiance.

TIA.

Make sure that any CPL you buy has a thin rim. Circular filters can fit on the 10-20 and not vignette.

Having said this, the 10-20 is awful with a CPL - because of the width of coverage, there is uneven polarisation of light. Therefore the effect of any CPL is patchy on the 10-20. I never used a CPL on my 10-20 after trying it once.

Hi Phil_Lowe,

just to chime in on what Photoj is saying. I have the (also 77mm) Tokina 11-16mm and tried the CPL on it.

Came to the same decision..lol..

Cheers :-)

Thanks guys. To be honest I had thought about this becasue I have a CPL on my LX3 and there have been many an occasion where I have taken off the CPL because of just this problem.

I think I will scrap the idea altogether - and save some money in the process. :D

My lens just arrived. It's the first time I have gone down the route of buying such a wide lens. This was taken as soon as I got the lens this morning. In fact thats the van that delivered it!

All I can say is WOW! Who needs polarisers?

Resize and nothing else.

Thanks Thomas. Site fixed now. I'd placed the image on my developement server by mistake - which gets turned off overnight. It's now on my live box.
