Anyone know anything about them?

Not too likely. A Google search only generates hits from Denmark and Scandinavian countries. None in English. Possibly a manufacturer from that region or rebranded lenses from another manufacturer.

Just from memory, Elicar were a third-party lensmaker specialising in macro - 70's and 80's.

They marketted camera+lens kits to the professional close-up and studio market. They also had a ringflash setup for the macro lenses.

They may have supplied more general lenses, and they might have survived into the AF age but I haven't noticed.

I think they were middle-of-the-range okay. I had an Elicar camera mounted on an Illumitran that I reckon was a rebadged Chinon. It was a cheap, light-duty camera.

I haven't owned any Elicar lenses.

I've got an Elvitar macro lens.

It's got the following written on the "away from the camera" end:

JAPAN
55mm 1A
1:3.8
80-205mm

One of the dials at the camera end goes from 22 down to 3.8 .

Seems to be free of faults. Any offers?
