i have just ordered this lens as it had 4mins left and was goin for £40 on ebay brand new

i was thinking of gettin the Tamron 55-200mm for £50 for my d60
to carry on where the kit lens finishes, was i right in thinking the sigma would be the better buy.

ive always had either nikkor (nikon) or sigma lens in the past, but how does this lens compare to the Tamron

thanks in advance for any comments

Hi mikeybreakdown,

May I wish you a warm welcome to the CameraLabs forums.

The Sigma AF 55-200mm f/4-5.6 DC was reviewed here. At £40 it sounds like a bargain. Please let us know how you get on with it. There's an empty slot for this lens in our Lens Gallery with your name on it if you'd like to share but please remember that the first post in each Lens Gallery thread should contain some example images. To learn how to postt images check out Thomas' summary.

i upgrade ever year or so.

im been in photography for about 9years (so half my life), digitally i started with the d40, then got the d80, then i bought the d60 to replace the d40 as a kind of camera that if put in tough places (rain etc) and then then i read about the d90 i just had to get one :) ive only had that about 5weeks now :)

next one is the d300 i think :)
maybe about april next year.
