Nice - your kingfisher is much more colorful than ours. We typically only get the belted around here. I did get a flying sequence with a belted kingfisher male last weekend:

They are beautiful birds!

Awesome to get yours in flight! Even @ 1/100th I get too much blur. :(

Hi Carlos, are you sure you meant 1/100, or is it a typo and you meant 1/1000? :)

1/100 seems awfully slow for most bird photography

Nice one. Although herons are quite common where i live, they are still nice to look at. Especially in action!

Little blue heron peeking through the reeds:

Roseated spoonbill hanging out with a variety of ducks:

Yellow-rumped warbler hopping through the maze of branches - with another lurking in the OOF area:

Blue-grey gnatcatcher in the trees too:

The always-secretive sora rail:

Green heron all puffed up to challenge another male:

One of those oddball shots I decided would be fun - pure silhouette in B&W of a bird among a tangle of branches - had a sort-of "Edgar Allan Poe" feel:

Tricolor heron hunting in the shadows of the reeds:

Beautiful, Justin. Really like the DOF in #4, but the colours & detail on the green heron are fantastic.

A treecreeper.

Its been too long that I could get some bird photos.
Yesterday was able to take some shots. Although these are no where comparable to the photos posted in here, I just couldn't resist from uploaing a few.
I am almost losing hope of getting decent bird photos with a lense that will focus manually (Nikkor AF 70-300 4-5.6 G) on D5000.
Please any guidance is very welcome.

Spotted a yellow tailed Cockatoo, naturally it flew off as I approached, I only ever see them rarely.
Only managed to get one shot and missed it. Bugger
