How do you take a 2-frame mosaic of a scene with living creatures (that tend to move) in it?



Here you can see Highland cattle and young over the New Forest in Hampshire U.K. So here's the trick. See that patch of green between the two groups? I used that as the overlap between the 2-frames for Photomerge in CS3 to do its stuff - so I could shoot mother and baby on the right at reasonably high speed to freeze the movenment, and then move across to the left to get the two youngsters when they were ready to pose. Didn't think much of his manners sticking his tongue out like that though

excellent work..I love this when you get so creative...haven't a clue the work involved, and if you had not let us in on the greenpatch, I would have thought it was just a for reals photo.

Hi Patti,

It is a for real photo. What I meant to say is that it is fortunate the two groups of animals decided they would be separate from each other by that little green patch. It meant I could photograph the two on the right (including the green patch, but not the two on the left) - then I could move across to the two on the left and photograph them separately, but again including the green patch - but not the two on the right. CS3 will then stitch the two shots together with the green patch as the reference area between the two frames.

well, don't be impressed Greg. Because, if I did not raise horses, I would have not noticed...but I thought, now looky, that mare has twins...only twins are very very rare, so, I looked and thought maybe they were NOT twins, maybe it was the same baby, in there twice..lol...so no thanks to my photo-knowledge, but only because I know horses...lol..

And I still like this, Mr. Wizard.

I'm even more impressed! I didn't know twins were rare. My (late) Dad would not be at all impressed by my ignorance - he worked all his life with horses!
