Imagine a small paddock with sheltering hedges on the north, south and west sides but open to the east overlooking a grassy bank down to a small stream.
Imagine that it is the depths of winter, twilight is becoming quite dark, there is a howling gale from the east with lashing rain, the temperature is not much above freezing.
Imagine some poor bedragled creatures wandering about on the east side in the teeth of the storm,,,,,
,,,and that was just us !
There is a very nice shelter with comfy straw on the ground down the sheltered western end all ready for an experienced ewe to drop her young in, but it was our first time and we were relying on her to know what to do LOL!
But no, she had given birth near a bramble bush over on the exposed east side and we had to persuade her into the shelter and carry her babies in.
However, the good news is that all was well by the following day, we had not caught pneumonia!
