*it's a 70mm aperture, 600mm focal length astronomical refractor telescope by Meade. It's an achromat, f/8.5.
I'm new to birding. I bought this scope to use as a piggyback scope for my larger sct telescope for astronomical use, but discovered today at the park that it works pretty well for birding (if you don't mind your arm getting tired).
I know the background looks a little odd, but the birds themselves came through pretty well for a $30 refractor telescope. It's attached to my Rebel XS with an adapter. I also just discovered, since taking these images, that a tele-extender will allow me to focus on smaller images closer up.
Just thought I'd share this discovery with anyone into long range telephoto.
Here are the birds: (they were all about 5 or 6 yards away when I took thier pictures).
