May I wish you a warm welcome to the CameraLabs forum.

Interesting photo but I find it difficult to look at. Depth of field is too extreme for me with not even the whole head in sharp focus. Central placement and a distracting background don't work for me either but those are all very personal views and not only may others more artistically literate than I find a lot to like but the effects I describe may be exactly what you wanted.

So please don't take my thoughts too seriously. Don't forget our monthly On Assignment competition.

This was one of the first pics I took with my new Canon 450D, and it was also behind glass at the Reptile aquarium, and the little critter wouldnt stay still

You can try cropping a bit from the right to get rid of that black bit, which is distracting.
