Above is a sample of the main part of my "holiday" earlier this week. Visited the seal colony at Donna Nook. Warden there said on a weekday they typically get hundreds of visitors, and on weekends thousands. Just as well we went on a weekday as it was getting busy particularly later in the day.

The beech is shared with the local RAF who use it for bombing practice. They fly pretty low! (I had the Top Gun theme in my head not long after the above...)

Kit wise I tried a bit of everything.
Bodies used: 7D, 5D2, 600D, HX9V
Lenses used: 100-400L, 70-300L, Sigma 120-300 f/2.8, 15-85
Messed about with a tripod for the Sigma, got fed up with moving that very quickly. I couldn't stay in one spot and the weight of the tripod on top of the lens was too much really.

I'm trying using only DxO 9 for above processing. I haven't mastered it by a long shot, but wanted to avoid the extra time in PS afterwards which I usually do to make fine adjustments. Above photos are from day 2 which was a half day. I haven't gone back to look at day 1 yet!

Capturing the bombs dropping is a good one, you don’t see to many of these. Was the fighter shots heavily cropped.

Cheers

Only a small crop, they were flying pretty close and low. I don't think I got that close even at an air show previously!

Hi popo,

Nice to see that at least one of the seals has the manners to put his "hand" in front of his mouth when yawning.

Bob.
